Physical Therapy

Anyone struggling with an injury, pain condition, or disability can benefit from physical therapy.

We create personalized plans that include exercise, manual therapy, and innovative treatments to help with mobility and function. Therapists create personalized treatment plans to improve mobility, relieve pain, prevent injuries, and enhance overall physical well-being.

Physical therapy also provides you with activities you can do at home that enhance your health and independence and help you maintain the gains you make during in-person therapy.

Common questions

Anyone struggling with an injury, pain condition, or disability benefits from physical therapy. Key Spine Care specializes in sports medicine, spine health, and personal injuries. The team includes a certified primary spine practitioner (PSP) and board-certified chiropractic sports physician.

Some of the conditions that benefit from physical therapy include:

  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Sports injury
  • Personal injury

When it comes to spine-related disorders (SRDs), the PSP serves as an interprofessional care coordinator, making sure patients with neck or back pain get the appropriate care to relieve their discomfort.

Though the PSP makes referrals to specialists when appropriate, conservative treatments like physical therapy always remain at the forefront of care.

You can expect a thorough evaluation during your first physical therapy appointment at Key Spine Care. The purpose of this exam is to identify and assess your functional abilities and create a plan that helps you achieve your goals.

Your provider reviews your medical history and asks about your daily routine. They perform a physical exam, focusing on muscle strength, mobility, flexibility, and balance.

At Key Spine Care, you can count on a personalized physical therapy treatment plan that addresses your concerns and helps you achieve your goal.

Treatment might include:

  • Guided exercise and stretching program
  • Home exercise program
  • Laser therapy
  • Soft tissue mobilization
  • Dry needling

The team schedules regular physical therapy appointments to help you reach your goals. They may combine your therapy with chiropractic care to support the body’s healing process.

Create a comprehensive and individualized plan

Everyone is different, so why should everyone get the same cookie-cutter treatment plan? At Key Spine Care, we take the time to conduct a thorough examination and learn what are your unique wellness goals. ONLY AFTER these two steps are completed, and we have determined your individualized diagnosis, do we create a comprehensive and individualized plan to help you resume doing what you love — without the use of rest, pills, injections, or surgery!

Implement the plan to treat and prevent symptoms

At Key Spine Care, we focus on ACTIVE over passive treatment plans, and for good reason. Expert doctors and therapists all agree: An ideal treatment approach encompasses more active than passive methods. If your doctor or therapist is heavily reliant on passive methods such as massage, electric stimulation, heat/ice, kinesiotaping, and posture correction, that is a red flag. In our opinion, treatment plans that rely primarily or exclusively on passive methods such as spinal adjustments, massages, vibration beds, etc. are NOT addressing the underlying issue but rather are masking the symptoms and providing short-term symptom modification.

This is why we proudly and exclusively only offer 1:1 care (e.g. no assistants or PTAs, just you and the doctor for the entire appointment, every time), we work together as a team to implement our shared plan to treat and prevent your symptoms.

Teach self-care methods

While we love our 1:1 time with our patients, we also do NOT want you to be locked into a never-ending treatment plan of 2-3 visits per week for life! Most of our treatment plans are 12 visits or less as we prioritize teaching you how to:

  • Eliminate the cause of the pain
  • Find pain-free postures
  • Develop healthy posture and movement patterns
