"Yes, My Back Pain Came Back — Here's What I Did (And What I Didn’t)"

Intro
I’m a rehab chiropractor.
I teach people how to get out of pain, stay active, and keep their bodies reliable.
And yes — my own back pain flared up again recently.
Here’s why I’m not worried.
And why you shouldn’t be either.
Back Pain is Common - Even for Me
If you’ve had back pain before, you’re more likely to have it again.
That’s not failure. That’s not weakness.
That’s just the reality of having a spine that’s lived some life.
The key isn’t if pain comes back — it’s what you do when it does.
No, It Didn’t Mean My Rehab “Failed”
When my back pain returned,
I didn’t throw out everything that had worked before.
I didn’t assume something was broken.
And I didn’t shut everything down.
I relied on the same core principles I use with my patients — and with myself.
What I Did (And Didn’t) Do
✅ What I did:
- Relative rest: I didn’t stop moving — I just lowered the intensity.
- Loaded into end-ranges I trust: From past experience, I know what works for my body.
- Dialed in sleep: No late nights. Good sleep accelerates recovery.
- Stayed hydrated: More water = less inflammation = better tissue health.
- Spent time with friends/family: Because back pain’s a body and brain problem. Connection matters.
- Kept perspective: This wasn’t new — and I’ve gotten out of it before.
🚫 What I didn’t do:
- I didn’t shut everything down
- I didn’t assume I had a new injury
- I didn’t give in to fear
If This Sounds Familiar…
You’ve had back pain before.
It went away… and now it’s back.
That doesn’t mean your rehab failed.
It doesn’t mean you’re broken.
It means your body is asking you to listen again.
At Key Spine Care, we help active people get to the root cause of flare-ups — so you can stay strong, move with confidence, and know exactly what to do next time.
Because there might be a next time — but it doesn’t have to derail your life.
